Continuing an annual tradition, we will exhibit everyone’s work in a large wunderkammer-style exhibition that will run from December 17 - January 14. The opening reception will take place on Saturday, December 17 from 5-8pm, and the closing will take place during Georgetown Art Attack on January 14.
You do not have to be an "artist” to participate in this exhibition! You can bring a piece that you are really excited to show, a piece you are trying to get out of your studio, or the first thing you ever made. You can be a collective, a designer, a crafter, a carpenter, a musician, or something else entirely. We will show one piece per "exhibitor," whether you are an individual or a collaboration.
Last year, we hung everyone's work in a salon-style exhibition. In 2016, we will treat all work as three-dimensional, and exhibit it on a long table that runs the length of the entire gallery.
Once the work is installed, artist & architectural designer Myra Lara will draw a map of the space so each artist and artwork can be identified in an easy and accessible way. Prices, names and titles will be featured on the map. We will also upload the map to our website so collectors can see what is for sale and what has been sold.
- Exhibitors will receive 100% of their sales - YES, 100%. Exhibitors are encouraged to "commission" the gallery at their discretion. Suggested commission: 20-80% of sale value.
- Each exhibitor may exhibit ONE piece.
- We will NOT hang your work. We will arrange everything on, and around, the table. You may bring 3D work, framed work, flat work, paintings, drawings, self-contained digital devices, etc. No matter the format or shape, everything will be treated as an object/sculpture. Therefore, it may be propped up, laid flat, leaned against other work, or otherwise displayed.
- The Alice is not climate-controlled. Your work will not be insured while it is in possession of The Alice.
- People of all ages are welcome to exhibit. We cannot guarantee that all content will be child-appropriate.
This exhibition is inspired by Itsa Small, Small World, by Jayson Musson (Hennessy Youngman), an artist that had an online art video project called ART THOGHTZ. Jayson created this drop-off style exhibition as a way to address the “lack the face-to-face contact that is available with other forms of art production and exhibition.” We also give a nod to the Brucennial, an open biennial that was organized in NYC by Bruce High Quality Foundation from 2008-2014, following the timeline of the Whitney Biennial. At The Alice, we meet many artists face-to-face, and we would like to extend our welcome to more of you and to thank those of you that have supported us in our first two years.
